Our People
Ryan Acquaotta
Ryan Acquaotta is a student of zen, socialism, and prison abolition, and is Freedom Agenda’s Campaigns Coordinator. Ryan has been a supporter and partner of the Campaign to Close Rikers since 2016. As a volunteer organizer with Showing Up for Racial Justice’s NYC chapter Ryan has mobilized New Yorkers in support of campaigns for parole justice and pre-trial reforms in New York State, and Ryan joins the Freedom Agenda team after working as a Bronx court advocate with the Fortune Society’s Alternative To Incarceration programs. The ways in which the criminal legal system has impacted his family and friends have taught Ryan to fight for a world in which all communities are resourced to thrive, and in which the ways we address harm look nothing like the jails on Rikers island.
